The Smart Lure Tool is an interactive recommender: pick your water and it reads live water temperature, wind, cloud cover and light, then ranks 56 proven inshore lures and baits against right-now conditions. It runs in three steps.
Choose any of the 38 covered inshore fisheries from Texas to Maryland plus California, or tap “Use my GPS” and the tool snaps to the nearest covered water and tells you how far away it is. Waters you save inMy Waters appear first every time, so your home bay is always one tap away. Every water also has afull location page with its own live conditions.
Once a water is selected the tool pulls live readings for that station and shows five numbers: water temperature in °F, wind, cloud cover (clear, partly cloudy or overcast), light (low light or bright), and the next tide with its time and whether it is high or low. Moon phase and percent illumination sit underneath. Readings come from the NOAA station tied to that water plus a weather feed; when you are offline the last known cached readings are used and labelled as cached, and if the feeds are unreachable entirely the picks fall back to season and time of day.
Seeing something different out on the water? Override chips let you set light (low light / bright), sky (clear / partly cloudy / overcast) and season (spring / summer / fall / winter) by hand. Overrides re-rank the picks instantly without refetching, and a “Reset to live” chip puts the real readings back.
The tool then ranks the lures and baits whose tags fit the read — species region, season, water clarity and light — and returns a numbered list. Each pick names the lure, its type (soft plastic, topwater, spoon, hard bait, jig, rig, live bait or natural bait), a one-line reason it fits the current conditions, the working color for that water, and a field tip on how to fish it.
Every pick is an entry in the lure & bait database, tagged by species, season, water clarity, light and region.
